I just felt like posting this to get some thoughts on what you guys think the difference is between a guy just being "friendly" or if he's actually coming on to you. I honestly can't tell.

I know the setting has a lot to do with it. Example: comments made in the gym should often be taken in a different context than those made in the coffee shop. I understand that tone and body language also play parts in this as well.

    Experiences? Input?

I've had some terrible experience where people send mixed signals over a long period of time, only to have them wanting just to be friends.

My rule of thumb is this: Trust your instincts. You will know when someone is interested in you. You just have to keep in check how much you like them, so that that doesn't influence your judgement.

Context is a big part. If someone goes out of their way to interact with you/be near you, you can usually assume they are interested.

It's funny you mention this. I was at the gym today and irony decided to pay me a cruel visit. A cute guy comes up to me and strikes up a conversation with my arms as the starting topic. He says he's seen me around the gym a lot and wonders what sport I played in high school. He's very nice, handsome, friendly and an ok body from what I could see. We talk for about 15 minutes, and it turns out that "friendly" is also straight, and 17 years old :nono:. Fucking wonderful.

cliff notes: I get approached by "friendly" straight jailbait at the gym and have a conversation that anyone could have easily mistaken for him hitting on me.

Here is the ultimate confusing situation.

My really close friend of about 6 years came down this weekend. There has always been some sexual tension between us, but we have never acted on it. I think all-around it was implied that we would finally break that barrier this weekend (as in everyone at the party figured we finally would).

So we leave Taylor's party and drive back to my house where we go into my room. He's like, "Let's put on a porno ( :mamoru: , I know). So we're watching the porn, and I move to make a transition and he replies, "I don't think it would be a good idea if we went that way with our relationship."

Oops, try to understand that one:ugh2:

Im having a QAF UK flashback on that story Ferron.

This is why I laugh at those movies where guys have problems hitton on girls.. lol.. that would be mere childs play by comparison to this stuff. I think I am like cedric only worse, a guy could be dry humping my leg and I wouldnt get he was interested until an hour to a week later. I guess im just dumb.
