So I run into a friend of mine at the gym.. we will call him greddy guy.. :greddy:

he tells me he is working chest and triceps today.. i ask him what he does for triceps.. he tells me tricep extensions (dumbbell behind neck), the rope, the tricep press, and something else..

i ask him .. how many sets and reps he does for triceps..and he says 17-18 sets and 7-8 reps for triceps..for all 4 of those... :ugh2:

and i reply "oh ok :eek4:".. but i am thinking... :wtf:

do any of u guys do that much tricep work on a given day? :eek3:

I do 4sets * 3 exercises for triceps. I don't do them the same day as chest.

edit: some of my reps are extremely high, I drop set like a whore on triceps.

    I'm the same way.

I'll do 3 exercises (I switch it up every week) and usually 3 to 4 sets for each exercise and that is it. I always get a great pump, I always get sore, and my arms grow.
I've noticed that when it comes to arms the phrase (quality over quantity) especially applies.

I usually do tri dips and another exercise (skull crushers or the like). I LOVE pushdowns but dont have a lat pull station at home.. :(

Once my squat rack is setup, I'll do close-grip bench.

for triceps, first I'll work up to some heavy sets on bench... 6-10 heavy sets of 2-5 reps... then i'll do something like close grip bench for a little higher rep range, or tricep death... then when i get to assistance work it i'll finish them off with something like a 3x10 of pushdowns

compound (high sets, low reps, heavy) --> compound (more volume, less sets, ~70%) --> bodybuilding style rep iso work for all of the main compound movements muscle groups
