    hai

So I pieced together this desktop and installed a fresh copy of XP. Everything is running fine, but I have no audio. In my hardware tree, it says that nothing audio related is working properly.

What should I do from here? :noes:

Download the drivers from the OEM's website.

Also try installing the modem drivers again.

"Legacy" means that kind of hardware has been around so long it doesn't matter who made it anymore, even if the specific one you have is relatively new.

If the sound card is built onto the motherboard, go to the motherboard OEM's website to get the drivers. Otherwise...shit, I dunno.

wait, is it that you don't hear anything playing or it won't actually let you play audio files? maybe you have the speakers plugged into the wrong jack, have it muted or volume too low on the system.

if not, do you have a dedicated sound card or is it built in to the motherboard? if dedicated, what kind of card is it? if motherboard, what is the brand/model of the board?

From looking at the pic, the Audio card has an issue which is most likely a driver problem and the rest of the stuff is disabled.

hehe, i didn't even see the pic and i misread his post (as i am prone to do). if he would tell us what kind of card/motherboard it is, we could make some recommendations.

No sound at all is playing.

The "sound card" is built in.

Don't know how to find out what brand of mother board I have. Any way to find out without opening the case?

I do not have access to the case right now. I've been accessing it remotely.

    I figured it out, though.

    Thanks for the info.
