You start out at 5500 Francs a month, which is equivalent to about $1,000. Wow.

Using Francs must be a Legion-only thing.

FFL is one of the most hardcore training regiments in the world when it comes to Infantry units (Not special forces).

Most people will desert in the first 5 months of training and in the FFL corporal punishment IS and WILL be used. So if you fuck up don't expect to not only be yelled at but also smacked around by the DI's if you fuck up good enough.

In the FFL you will be sent to shitholes usually in the Ivory Coast or other African (French) colonies. When you join, life is cheap. A lot of FFL people have lost buddies in that service.

Physical requirements are extreme for the average military unit, you will run/walk/march extreme distances and you'll be put to the limits like you wouldn't believe.

FFL are not to be fucked with my friend, so if you ever think about going because of marital problems (People when they join will be given a new identity which you may change back after 5 years, all your personal information will be given up to the French government) so you can avoid paying child support or otherwise, think hard about it.

Those joining with Criminal record will not be accepted unless it's something very small, FFL no longer allows people in who commit murder or acts of moderate/serious crimes anylonger.

Just some tips I've learned over the years from people who've joined.

Oh and you WILL learn french, french is the only language used and if you don't learn it before joining you will be assigned someone with your company/group who will teach it with you. 1 french person (translator who teach's) to every 5-6 men.
