my iMac G5 is freezing quite a lot and asking me to restart, and when I restart it, I get problems before logging in aswell, before the login screen too

how can I fix this problem

  2. When did this start?
Have you tried repairing the hard drive with Disk Utility?
    Is your room overly warm?
Do you have much third party software installed?

thats really unsual. Tell us what you have done to the machine, or what you are running on it. Sounds like it could be a number of things, but first things first, have you tried repairing the permissions on it? Not usualy the problem, but it's easy and it can't hurt. The other thing you might want to do is clear out your preferences from any 3rd party software you might have installed. OSX doesn't just freeze up unless you do something to it.

Try starting from the System CD in and repair the permissions. If that doesn't work, try running Onyx which is available on versiontracker.com
