Anyone know of any website with locators for free or low income "women's health" clinics.

I talked to my local Planned Parenthood and it's going to cost me an arm and leg to arrange an annual, get tested, and start on birth control.

Anyone have any suggestions? I don't have med INS and only work part time (in school FT), but need to get these things going.

    Thanks!

    :wavey:

just say you don't have any income. they will do it for free. my ex gf used to do that, otherwise it'd cost her so much, but she really didn't have much income. they don't really check it. just what i've seen.

Yea we went to a PP because we heard how good it was and how cheap they were.

We were treated like trash and then we later found it was more expensive than any doctor in town anyways. Live and learn...but we definitely wont be going back there.

If school=college, most of them have a clinic that is a little less expensive than standard DR.'s.

that sucks. maybe they're losing funding. i think this will deter young teens who aren't able to come up with the cash from getting birth control/ annual exams.. more teen pregnancies??

+1... school clinics are usually a little scary at first, but it is better (and cheaper) than nothing. My school makes you pay for services/meds up front (unless they have to write you a perscription), but I know of others that will just charge it to your account like tuition & you pay it back later.

It is college, but not typical college. It's a private "technical" school. :dunno:

LOL I've searched on the online phonebook, perhaps I'll have to do it the old school way. I was mostly curious to see if anyone knew of something I might be overlooking.

I was dumbfounded! I had always thought it was a "free clinic". That's what they instilled in us back in HS. Blew my mind when the lady was telling me the fees!

    PAP = $155.00
to start BC = $50.00-$70.00 (at first then will decrease to $20 or so)
    Full STI = $210.00

I was like .. holy shit I don't have $400.00 bucks to hand over!

We had the same jaw dropping reaction... it was the most expensive place we found. Turned out her local gyno was cheaper!

I was thinking the same thing. I can go to an actual office and pay the same or less!

It's just frustrating b/c I can't qualify for medicaid. I "make too much" :squint:

my suggestion is to stop being a hoe to begin with, so there would be no need for the daily visit to the clinic

Uh oh!!! There are more reasons to take BC than just to prevent pregnancies, that's a main one, but ignorant people just don't understand it.

Apparently this person has NO idea what is means to be female, and how we have a well woman's examn annually and they test for STIs then.

Right testing should be done every 6 months, regardless of what type of lifestyle you lead. It's just a good habit to get into and a good way to take care of yourself. People aren't ALWAYS honest.

Why would a married couple want to get tested for STIs? :hs: (unless of course they are a couple like Mr. CarlitoBrigante and his poor wife :mamoru: )

The threadstarter hardly seems like a hoe, but if all of the hoes stop being hoes, who are you going to cheat on your wife with?
