no... any 3GS built after week 37 cannot be jailbroken... it appears that Apple has started to figure things out...

how can you find out which one you have? I was able to jailbreak mine, so i assume it was before week 37.

Seems that if you have a JB 3GS (assembled after week 41), you will need to jailbreak it everytime it reboots. Sth like Tethered Jailbreak.

pechango, look the serial number, the 4th and 5th digits are the week it was produced. :)

Yah, at first I thought I couldn't do it because i kept getting stuck at the 'waiting for reboot' step. I was using rc3 on the old school Tiger osx.. Then I tried it on my laptop running windows 7 - same thing.

Just about ready to give up, then tried it on a pc using XP, then BAM! Since then, I have truly understood and appreciated the term 'jailbreak'!!
