Variety/Tech-On report that Kadokawa Group, the company that owns the rights to popular anime such as Lucky Star and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, will be putting some of its content up on YouTube for free viewing:
Starting in June, when Kadokawa finds its toons on YouTube, it will check to see if the person/company that posted the content is legit rather than immediately ordering YouTube to take it down.
If the person/company is OK’ed, Kadokawa will run ads on the poster’s Web page and divide the revenue with YouTube and the poster. This business model is a first for the Japanese biz.
Until now, Japanese visual contents rights holders, including TV nets and pic producers, have policed YouTube and similar sites for illegal use of their content and notified the site owners when they spot what they consider a pirate.
Kadokawa, however, wants to encourage legit uses of its toons, while spreading the international word about them on YouTube and reaping profits in the bargain.
The YouTube channel can be viewed here.

I started torrenting because it's on there quicker, better quality, and I don't have to spend half the time searching for it.

if you use the betatv player its basically a P2P app, you download the original file uploaded vs streaming a nuetered flv/swf file

the only problem is there is still a lot of old content that are flv files :(

Why has youtube not upgraded to something better than 320x240? It's ridiculous.

    a.because of the volume.
    b. Look at their videos, it's not like veoh where you can watch an indie film or an episode of anime, it's all just 2-10 min videos worthless garbage.

So, there really isn't a need to. I mean, is there a big calling to have Numa Numa presented in 1280x720, 64 bit, high definition?

It'd be nice to see what's going on. Besides, they need to progress because there's more competition than when they started.

True, but I doubt they will. Google became a household name and they haven't changed it much. Same with youtube, it's bigger than google itself and I can't see them doing much with it.

watching anime on nico is pretty damn nice, it gets uploaded within a few hours of airing and comments are always fun to read.

I hate streaming, I always have the stream break near the end and I have to refresh it and wait for it to reload.

Lol who cares what's illegal and legal on the internet seriously.
    Torrents are easier.
