Haha. I am glad you put the cliffs in there, because it was hard to tell what was being said in the IM conversation.

I think she likes you :)

And she may like the fact that you are freaky. Although, I don't think it's freaky to look at a girl's thong. That's just normal. :mamoru:

Offer to take her out for drinks, then make advances. That way if she is offended its not a sexual harrasment suit at work, your just some creepy guy in a bar which isnt illegal.

actually a friend of mine who attended a sexual harrassment workshop was told that asking a fellow employee out, even outside of work, was harrassment. this is thirdhand info so look it up i guess.

It depends on the state law. In CO for example, and many states, what you do outside of work is none of their business, and in fact is illegal for your employer to bring it up. Do your homework.

I would have (1) not mentioned her underwear; that was her comfort zone and you violated it (2) and realized that being called a freak is a BAD thing. She called you a pervert, and she's right. It was not funny, not polite, not respectful, and not gentleman like. Next time, make all the jokes you want but leave the underwear out of it.

I'd never consider asking a co-worker out again after nearly losing my job over it. And because of the sexual harrassment claims (completely unfounded, but claims nonetheless). And because of the accusations that made me lose my promotion. Etc.

Go to the bar, by all means, and learn to approach and ask women out instead.

You *might* even want to consider apologizing by saying "Hey, what I said that other day was inappropriate and stupid and I wanted to let you know I apologize and it won't happen again." No matter what she says, just drop the topic.

I made a rude joke to a girl. She went to lunch with me later. Afterwards, she complained to management that I made a rude comment and got me fired. So ... if I was so rude, why'd she go to lunch? I'll never figure that one out. All I am saying is that NOW is the time to apologize.

    Yeah I hear ya
but she and I have talked about WAY worse stuff. and so I think apologizing will make her fell weird. I think the best way to end this is to just move forward and not make references like that in the future.
but thanks for ur input - opened my eyes a bit. thanks :)
