Good or bad idea? My brother called me tonight with a lead on one. Going to try an look at it tomorrow. Not a whole lot of details yet, other than it's a late 80's, he said he thought it was an 88.. It's the 5.0, good shape, no rust, 5spd, owner said he could get 20mpg in town if he was careful... I should have more info on it with in the next couple days.. I just need some input from some owners :x:

They look like ass, but I guess they're reliable enough; I still see quite a few of them around.

They sure are ugly.. I've always had a love/hate feeling towards them. I think they look best either black or white. Unfortunatly, this one is faded red and grey :hsugh: But, thats not a deal breaker, I want to get out of my 90 F150, 11mpg ftl! Plus, this would be a fun ride, even if the milage is only slightly better.

What are you guys paying for insurance? I'm 22.

My friend has a '91 5.0 LX that has been bullet-proof. He gets around 16mpg or so.

$1400 a decent price based on what I've said so far? I'll see it for sure this weekend. It has 150k on it.

Sounds like an opportunity to get a paint job.

If your driving record is clean, your insurance should be fine no matter what you drive.

I still own one, and they're fine as daily drivers so long as you don't touch the rear differential. I had an LX Sport, so it came with the 2.73 rear dif, made it a decent highway car, but made it shit for anything else. Changing those to 3.73s destroyed the highway mileage, but its decent in the city if you keep your foot out of it.

Beyond that, if you ever get the urge to modify, they are fun as hell. Just make sure you've got some good brakes on it.

I was daily driving mine until I bought a $600 escort to get me around while I mod mine. Got 15-17mpg city, ran on 87 octane, and never failed to start.
