you could take it to a nextel store and they can scan the phone and see who it belongs to

I have a coworker that bought a phone off of eBay that turned out to have been lost. They tracked her down and she had to return it. Luckily the seller refunded the money.

how would they track him down after he sells it, finger printing a phone :ugh:

and i know all about IMEI, but if you seel it to a small store then you should have no problem.

call nextel customer service. they'll be able to tell you who owns it based on the serial number. the owner will thank you and you'll sleep better at night knowing you did the right thing.

or you can sell it and get hit by a truck. :dunno:

    karma, mang. :)

I tried to track the owner down, I really did. I called the #'s in the phone book as well as the numbers in the recent calls, nobody spoke english, and I dont speak chinese.

if you take the batter cover off and pop the battery out, there should be a serial number there.

it's not labeled as such, but there will be a number unique to that phone and nextel should be able tell you whose phone it is as long as they bought it from nextel. they may not tell you directly, but they should be able to return the phone to its proper owner or pass your number along to the customer who can contact you.
