    Well besides heat....

Cruising the back roads yesterday and had a wasp smack me right in the chest. Well thought that was the end of that but to my surprise.....couple of wings popped up in my vision from down around my chin. Luckily there wasn't anyone else around and got off the road pretty quick and got that sucker out.

I think when he hit my chest it pretty much knocked him silly or I would have been screwed.

I'd rather that than the june bug that hit me square in the forehead while wearing my brain bucket.

I think it was a grasshopper that I hit at the better side of 80 on Sunday. Had I not had the full face... :noes:

 The vision of that being flipped up and a smoke hanging from the lips comes to mind.

Ohhh don't worry I know the benefits of a full face WAY outweigh a bucket.

I do admit I need to get more in the habit of wearing some better protection.

Boots, gloves, and a full face helmet has been the norm.

I had a bee/wasp fly into my helmet a few weeks ago. Freaked me out. Bastard was buzzing around in front of my face :squint: I got him out after I finished my turn.

that's pretty much me when I ride.
Funny to see the expressions of people when they look over and I'm lighting up a smoke using the cigarette lighter.

How big are June bugs? Don't have them here.
I've had just bees and the occasional dragonfly hit me with surprising force, I can't imagine anything bigger than that.

I also can't imagine riding without the full face with those plus all the hundreds of small bugs that splatter my face shield.

I don't like taking my windshield off if I'm going to get on the highway.

i got nailed by a bug directly at my right eye with a full face. i had to get off the interstate and clean my visor because it spread and covered most of the right half of the visor.

I've also caught a BOX to the chest before. empty cardboard box came out of a truck....fun times.

I took a bumble bee to the chest while in my leather jacket. That did sting a little. He was a big, slow mover, I hit him around 50.

My dad got hit in the chest once with a chicken at about 25MPH
He said it just about took him off the bike.
Once I had my visor open and got brushed across the nose by a pigeon wing. That was kind of freaky.

I cought a ping pong ball chunk of loose asphalt to the shoulder on the freeway once. Almost nailed a couple birds too, I imagine a decent sized one could knock a rider off if not braced for it.

I personally know someone who took an owl to the chest at 40mph... Took them off of the Harley ended up breaking an arm and some ribs.... Ouch.

I don't miss these stories one bit. Riding now with a full fairing/windshield makes the ride so much more enjoyable. Just enough airflow to stay cool but the air pocket prevents shit from flying into my face, drops the wind noise to almost nil and after a long day's ride I'm not nearly as sore as I used to be dealing with the buffeting.

i hit a yellowjacket once and it got stuck inside my jacket and stung the shit out of my neck 3 times. the second time i hit a yellowjacket, it took it in the adams apple. it broke the skin and swelled up pretty bad.

i was riding with the visor up at night once, its a tinted visor so i just pop it up and wear saftey glasses instead. i hit a firefly and it turned the view of my left eye a fluorescent yellow for a few minutes. freaked me out at first.
