I had formatted this computers hard drive and everything worked great, installed windows just fine. I took it down stairs to hook up another fan on the computer and turned it on to see if the fan was blowing the right way and it wasn't so I turned it back off and switched the fan and turned it back on to double check and then turned the computer back off. Then when I got it set up with the monitor and what not it would get to the windows start up screen and restart. I figured I corrupted the hard drive some how by starting it and shutting it off so I reformatted using the windows xp cd. Now it'll reformat all the way and then at the end say format couldn't be completed make sure there is power and data cable is hooked up properly and mentioned something about SCSI cable which it isn't SCSI.

I tried a different hard drive and got the same thing.

    Please help lol

I replaced the IDE cable and removed some of the ram. Formatted just fine.
