I recently acquired a computer that was setup to only run one program, internet explorer. I want to format with XP but for some reason I cant get it to boot from the CD. I set the CD drive as the first boot device in the bios but that didn't help. Any suggestions?

    is the cd legit/bootable?
some systems require you to press a key or access a boot menu before you can boot from the cd. do you see any of those at boot?
    try a diff cd drive/cable

Jolly must have invented that dancing lock image.

Just hit a bunch of buttons as the computer starts up. Some manufacturer favorites are Escape, F8 and F12.

set the cmos clear jumper or pull the battery, then go into the cmos and set it to read from the cd upon booting

if that doesn't work, use a different cd drive/windows cd
