Open a Command Prompt and type in "help xcopy". Study the instructions for how to use xcopy to move the contents of one folder into another while only replacing files that are older and leaving newer files alone. Then use xcopy to repopulate the new \system32 folder with the contents of the old \system32 folder.

either do that or just have your new hardware wizard search the old system32 folder for drivers once you go into hardware manager and see what isn't working

i love how only 2 people (myself included) offered to help, but everyone else had to be a dick

not everyone knows everything, you need to start somewhere.

Press F12 when the screen first turns on. It should show you a menu of devices that the computer can boot up from.

you're looking for "Device Boot Order" and you want the CD-ROM to be first.

CD-Rom is the 'First Boot Device'?

Is the CD in the drive? What exact OS is it?

Does the CD-ROM read other disks?

If it checks the CD drive before it boots up from the hard drive, then either it's asking you to press a key if you want to boot from the CD and you're not paying attention, or the CD isn't bootable.
