One thing I noticed on my drive of the Mazda 3 were the gauges. While pleasing to look at while sitting in the car, their actual readability was poor while driving. The first thing that got me was the speedometer. I have marked typical areas on the gauge that you'd actually be likely to drive on a consistant basis. Notice that the important numbers are crammed down there at the bottom with little needle movement. Another point is the tachometer. It is small, and stuffed in the corner of the cluster. Also, the tach and fuel guage are loaced physically further away meaning your eyes must readjust just to scan the gauges in entirety. There is a black area on the left side of the pod that contains the tach which seems like wasted space. In practice the font isn't optimal and the redline area blends into the markings. Another important thing to mention is that these gauges aren't as big as they may appear. They are quite a bit smaller than most cars, making them harder to read from the begining.
