    Motor Trend September 2003

    specs:

    5751cc (350.9 cid) DOHC V10, 4 valves per cylinder.
    Cast aluminum blocks and heads.

    Estimated HP: 430hp @ 6500rpm
    Estimated TQ: 405 ft-lbs @ 5500rpm
    Tranmission: Tremec T-56

    Accelerations:
    0-60 mph: 4.4 sec
    0-90 mph: 8.3 sec
    0-100 mph: 10.3 sec

1/4 mile time ET, trap speed: 12.88 sec @ 114.44 mph

It's an experimental "unfunded" Mustang, so it'll probably never make retail. The motor shares a few parts with the modular 4.6L DOHC V8 in the Cobra.

    Fuuck. Where's GM's corresponding badarse :(

perhaps. There is so much that can go into power number besides number of valves, cylinders, and displacement. just because the setup they're using only makes 430/405 desn't mean that it can't make a shit load more with a different setup

EDIT: if you think these numbers are pathetic, what HP/tq qould you expect to see?

a DOHC V10 should definatly run better than HIGH 12's.

When the Viper first came out with the 8.0L V-10, it was only putting out 400hp. Now thats pathetic. Mind you it is a OHV, and Dodge.

I bet its a real similar engine to that Triton V10 from the F trucks... whats next, "PowerStroke Diesel Mustang"?? lol! (that would be interesting to see, nonetheless)

From the article, it says it's completely different from the Triton SOHC V10.

I am sure that the engine could produce 600 HP or so. They just have to make them pussy for the regular consumer.

Why not just use a V8 4.6 and stroke it out? I am not sure how far the 4.6 can go (281 ci = 4.6).

I am sure we will see the 5.0 Mod engine before the V10.

In the article they reiterated that the #'s were extremely traction limited. They were spinning the tires well through 3rd.

that was on street tires and motor trend cant drive a rwd car worth a shit so they were spinning practically the whole time.

The motor is basically the 4.6 DOHC with 2 cylinders added on.

That motor was the original Terminator (03 Cobra) plan.

I saw videos of the car in action.. It reallys isn't that much of a bad-ass as what the numbers would make you think.. I think the engine needs a better car!

Funny that you mention it. I remember seeing a few years back someone put a Powerstroke into a red fox body. I wish I could find that link. It was the weirdest thing. Propane+nitrous+fox body+clattering diesell=

are we talking about the car that had the stand alone management for each bank of the engine mounted on the passenger side of the dash? that car was very capable of 11's on slicks as tested in MM&FF. I believe the car had a 9 inch rear too.
