Ford issued the largest single recall in its history Tuesday as drivers of an additional 4.5 million vehicles were alerted about a fire hazard from a faulty switch, CNNMoney.com reports. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said this was the eighth recall, involving a total of 16 million Ford Motor vehicles, concerning the cruise control deactivation switch manufactured by Texas Instruments.

I hate Ford products, so I'm going to say that Ford told TI "yeah we're only gonna put like 1 amps through this switch blablbbalbla" and they ended up doing some shit that causes the switch to fail.

And why the fuck does the cruise control module have constant power causing the switch to short?

    Another retarded design by Ford™

I automatically hate everything to do with TI. The goddamn shitty calculator I had when I was in high school still retails for 100 bucks. All technology advances and gets smaller, faster and cheaper...except for TI calculators.

i'd buy an 09 Ford F-150 before any of the big 3 right now.

    Toyota would be 2nd..

Chevy needs a refresh to keep up with ford

Dodge and Nissan... well they explain themselves.

Technically, the floor mats Toyota uses aren't made by Toyota either. Same with the cruise control switch with Ford.

Probably a combination of the two.

Ford probably says "build this kind of switch"

TI says "Okay, it costs $3.92 each if you buy 11ty billion"

Ford says "Oh noes that too expensives. Take insulation off the wires to make it $2.79 each"

    TI says "Okay"
