At least one American car company is making money.

    More at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33583171/ns/business-autos/

Cash for clunkers obviously made some difference, but hopefully this means they can run a profitable company making small cars and not just trucks.

    all cash for clunkers sales.

I would love to see the increase in their balance sheet on ford motor credit.

Do the research...there wasn't that much more car sales across the board because of cash for clunkers vs. the ones that were gonna buy a car anyhow.

i don't believe this for a second. cash for clunkers sparked a huge artificial surge and gave people incentives to buy shit they weren't going to quicker

The point is, they can be a profitable company selling small cars as well as trucks. Unlike some other American car companies, that were losing money on most models sold. :mamoru:

Oh don't worry, they'll still fail. Obama has GM's back, they will do whatever it takes to hurt Ford

    Ford won't fail.

I don't think people realize how big Ford is in Europe and Australia.

GM doesn't hold a candle to it.

 Way to leave out that they're still down $1.3B for the year. And that C4C just caused a short-term surge in demand that will lead to less demand in Q4.

how is that considered profit when they still have a humongous debt?

 It says Q3 in the title, not yearly profit. Of course they are down for the year, we are in a huge recession. Did you read the article explaining their long term outlook at all?

Yes, it's all the fault of the recession. :mamoru:

All I'm saying is that one quarter of govt-fueled growth is not a game-changer.

C4C has nothing to do with what I'm saying. I'm saying that Ford can be profitable company selling small and medium size cars, and not strictly trucks. This article backs that up as well.
