Decided I hate my Audi and am going to buy a crew cab truck within the next month or so. I am digging the Chevy Silverado crew cab short bed LT, I dont know too much about fords lineup. Aside from that they are a hell of a lot better looking then previous years. How do they compare? Interior quality, options, etc. Seem priced about the same, etc etc.

I like both a lot and think you wont go wrong either way. Test drive both and see which one you like better personally.

Thats the plan, both have alot going for themselves, and they are so similarly priced. I hear ford has much better interior quality for the money.

I'll agree wholeheartedly with that. There is a lot that is right with the F150.

I had a 2005 Silverado crew cab short box just as you are looking at for about 3 yrs.

    Pros:
    -Very smooth ride
    -Comfortable seat/console layout
    -Large rear seating

    Cons:
-Too many electronic shitstorms on the info center; alarms galore, especially in cold weather.
-Gas gauge would stop working at temps colder than -15*C, dealer never did fix it.
-Very slow-to-downshift drivetrain, felt very lazy.

Did I like the truck? Ya, it was OK and very practical, but it annoyed me every Winter to the point that I doubt I'd buy another one.

Post up with your eventual purchase.

Ended up going with a 2009 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab Short Bed. Summit white. SLE Preferred Package, Convenience package, and Regional package. My boss was good friends with the dealerships owner so i got a good hookup. Just about 10 grand off sticker.

5.3 liter LMG V8, 6 speed automatic. Went with the 2wd, i know know, but i never got to the snow, never go off-road, so who needs the extra 4 grand and 500 lbs of metal. Might regret it when the zombies attack and i can't escape into the hills, but day to day I'll be fine. So far I am absolutely loving life in this thing, I don't think I'll ever go back to a sedan.

2wd is all you need if you got the LSD with that motor.

    Nice truck. White fail, though.

Yeah it shows the dirt but I am a bit of a detailing freak so it'll never go more than a week unwashed. Didn't think I'd go for a white one but it really stuck on me.

Do you notice the steering column offset from the drivers seat? On my dad's old silverado 1500 (06' maybe?) the wheel probably a couple of inches to the right of the drivers seat. Shit was wierd, bothered me everytime i drove it. He's got an 09' 2500HD now and its still off center, but very slightly. Odd.

    Excellent! You'll like it.

Any reason why you didn't go over the rails with it? Planning to just put rail caps on?

So you like lower gas mileage and worse performance? The 5.4L Triton V8 is a slug.

2010 Expedition fleet vehicle at work has some great power to it. Much better than the 2004 it replaced :dunno:

    .

They've all got acceptable power. They had enough power when 300 was the standard...now 400hp is standard and they haven't gotten any heavier.

If you drove a GM and a Ford back to back, you'd definitely feel a difference.

I think the next investment will be retractable bed top, any recommendations, is there a top 2 or 3 brands for this sort of thing.
