too bad they'd put the 4R70W in there that pretty much makes it a 3 speed if you put out any power since you cant use OD

I'm a Chevy guy at heart, so i know almost nothing about those cars. But I still had a good time checking out all the cars.

Which tranny is that, don't think I have heard of that one, but then again I don't know jack about ford trannys.

Nothing wrong with a three speed thats what is going in my car :ugh:

The 4R70W is the ford AODE. It's a 4 speed that has lots of heat problems due to poor heat exchanger location and design and crappy accumulator pistons/springs which make for sloppy and slow upshifts which are also prone to fail along with the torque converter (shudder at low rpm load) due to the heat. The topper is the 3-4 shift which uses an over drive band mechanism instead of standard shifts like the other gears, meant to save gas - but results in a overly slow shift with a spike in rpms as if you pressed in the clutch. Even better is that if you make about 310-330rwhp+ you can break this over drive band, or even if you use a kevlar band - if you have a good amount of power the strong band will twist even a hardened input shaft.

Luckily by building mine i eliminated all these aspects down to the heat, and it's a stout fast shifting tranny with a 3200 stall TC all good for 500-550rwhp now. But i still have to turn o/d off and use 1-3 gears if im at full throttle:o
