a guy i work with entered his first comp this past fall and is planning on competing again next may. It's an amatuer natural contest and he is trying to convince me to enter. I have a couple questions for anyone who has been in a contest or who knows about them.

My main concern is the dieting down that is required. I've always wondered if dieting down to that extent would have any permenant effects on my metabolism?

What were your reasons for competing? I'm thinking the motivation of knowing i'm going to have to stand on stage in next to nothing and be judged might make me bust my ass a little harder.

I think i'm going to see how training goes over the summer and see how things look in the fall. I don't want to embarrass myself or anything.

Any advice you could give me would be cool. I don't expect to win or anything, but I'm wondering if the experience might help me in my training

trust me, it's nothing special. I'm bigger then the guy who competed in the fall, but i'm definetely not a big guy. I'm 6'1" and about 190 - 195 right now. I'm hoping i can gain 5 - 10lbs lbm by this time next year

    what the hell:

these are three months old, i'm up a couple pounds since then. And before anyone asks my legs are up to par with the rest of me, i just don't have a full length mirror at the moment. I'd be in the super lightweight class
