How much do you usually use in your post workout shake? Ive been reading and most sites will say 2:1 carbs to protein, but 80g of sugar seems excessive? Other sites say around 15g tho, so I'm confused... Someone want to point me in the right direction? :hs:

15g seems to work well for me. you're looking at a 25ml scoop.

Agreed, dextrose always fucks up my sugar levels and I get a huge craving for food right after to stabilize it. Real food >>> powder

you're not going to spike your insulin with somethign that takes that long to digest.

if you want natural, go for fruit.

If you want immediate digestion, go for dextrose

since when did this shit get so scientific? Just stick to the basics, most of you people can't even eat enough food, an "insulin spike" isn't going to do a damn thing for you

So you're saying if that if enough carbs are eaten before workout, you're body won't go into a catabolic state?

Half of the shit in this forum is "I just got a 1967 VW Beetle, how do I effectively corner weight it so I can drive at LeMans."

Tipton’s team found that as little as 6g essential amino acids + 35g sucrose taken immediately before exercise (45-50 minutes of resistance training) was enough to keep insulin elevated to roughly 4x above fasting levels 1-hour post-exercise. It took 2 hours post-exercise for insulin to return to resting levels. A similar insulin response was seen with 20g whey by itself taken immediately preworkout.

Capaldo’s team examined various metabolic effects during a five hour period after ingesting a meal composed of 75g carb, 37g protein and 17g fat. This meal was able to raise insulin 3 times above fasting levels within 30 minutes of consumption. At the 60 minute mark, insulin was 5 times greater than fasting. At the 300 minute mark, insulin levels were still double the fasting level.

What's all this insulin spiking about? I thought the point of taking dextrose was a cheap supply of fast digesting carbs :hs::o I need to read more

carbs will effect your insulin levels. The lower the GI, the longer it takes to digest and the longer the insulin level is maintained
