I eat 6-9 tablespoons a day myself, so I wasn't too pleased when I learned about this...

    http://www.bodybuildingweb.net/blog/peanut-butter-causes-cancer/

    From another source...
Yeah yeah...everything causes cancer, but the idea is to limit your consumption of/exposure to carcinogens. I know there are people on here who eat even more peanut butter than I do, so they should be aware.

better start steaming all of your meat. meat cooked at a high temperature contains a bunch of carcinogens, heterocyclic amines for one.

baked starches have acrylamide, a known carcinogen.

coffee contains acrylamide and other suspected carcinogenic substances

food stored in tupperware contains dioxins

    and so on

fuck it, get your veggies in and live life.

I don't eat pounds of grilled meat a day, I don't drink coffee that often, I don't store food in tupperware that often, but I do eat A LOT of peanut butter. I know other people on here do the same, so I'm passing along the info.

you may not do the things I mentioned but I guarantee you are exposed to a fair amount of known or suspected carcinogens every day. that's modern life.

Again, you want to limit your exposure, so for someone eating 10tbsp of peanut butter a day, it wouldn't hurt to switch to something like almond butter.

I watched my dad die of lymphoma, so yes, I sweat that stuff within reason (read: no longer eating ~150g of PB a day).

the ironic thing is, stressing about this stuff will make you more likely to...well, you know.

That's a very sad situation, my condolences. However, try and not let it rule your life.

Thanks for the info. Nothing wrong with being aware as long as you properly weigh the advantages/disadvantages.

All peanuts sold commercially in the US are tested for it. Only peanuts with an acceptable level are allowed through. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
