I've always loved Watchmen, Sin City, and 30 Days of Night, but that's about all I've read. Can anyone suggest more comics with a darker feel to them that are worth checking out?

The Boys is the first "current" series I can think of. You could pick up the first 2 trades and be almost current.

All-Star Batman & Robin The Boy Wonder.

At least... thats what I think Miller was trying to do with them.

Down - mini-series by warren ellis and tony harris about corrupt cops and such

Powers - Crime-Noir Super-Hero book (it's plenty graphic, lots of gore, boobies, foul language, etc..). Super-powers are outlawed in america and the cops have a special "powers" unit that handles super-crime...these are their stories (cue law and order sound clip).

DMZ - outstanding series about a new civil war that erupted in the near future and New York and surrounding area is the last area still fighting...total choas in the streets.

Northlanders - another brian wood book (he writes DMZ) about a new-school norseman named sven who finds out his father has been killed and his uncle has taken his rightful inheiritence, beheadings galore.

The Walking Dead - survivors of the zombie holocaust (it's like a soap-opera with zombies). one of the best books out there right now.

Fear Agent is great too if you're into sci-fi, space cowboys, graphic violence, and obsessive drinking.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I've been hearing about how good Walking Dead is from a few people, because I'm the biggest fan of zombie movies I know, so it sounds like I'll have to pick up on that.

If you are a Zombie buff (as I am) you will love it. It is just like reading a Romero movie that does not end. Good stuff.

Preacher is great because it has the whole dark overtones but they'll throw in a little comedy (i mean, every appearance of arseface is full of lulz) and it's great.

Thanks for all the help again, my local comic shop was closed so I went to a book store and picked up The Dark Knight Returns, and the first volume of 100 Bullets. I'm going back to get Walking Dead Volume One today. What are your collective opinions on The Death of Superman?

Garth Ennis has tons of good stuff. He writes the best Punisher comics that are dark.

death of superman wasn't exactly dark. It could have been so much more.
