    SOLD

I have a white two door 98 XJ, in pretty clean shape, minor scratching/marks but nothing major. solid as a rock in all mech. depts.

    white w/ sport package trim
    4.0L inline 149k
    4sp auto
    4x4 (rear limited slip)
    dark tint
ARC alum wheel w/ brand new BF goodrich all terrain TA/KO's

....i dont really want to see it, but being as im military i dont use it often enough to warrent letting it sit around and rot and repair. i know gas prices are going to kick my ass selling this thing, but what are XJ's going for in your area (im in mid east, no market searching here) i dont trust kbb on 4x4 deals since gas has gone up.

flame away, but wats OT think is a fail deal? :noes:

    for sell?

assuming your average jeep (sounds like it) then I'd say $2,000.

    :( v/ sad.

thats what i figured was a more accurate number. guess i should try and sell it, and if thats all i get offered then i guess i will just slowly destroy it on the weekends :big grin:

it would be so much more fun than getting 2k out of it.

true. i did buy an older 86 for 500 (it didnt run) we took it home, verified spark/air/fuel....so it was pretty simple. then we adjusted the timing and bam, jasper rebuild purr's away like a little kiten. the inside was fucking imaculate (ugly color) but awesome shape. the body is solis, but paints lacking a clear coat.
it has the AMC build and a chevy 2.8L v6 and the transfer case slips pretty bad.
then i bought an identical one with a scored crank(identical motor) and a 5spd, so we floored it and used four low to move it and its now a swap project. 5spd and transfer case goes into one with good interior and awesome motor. <-200 bucks.

so in total, i will have only 700 plus some paper towels and fluids. not a bad deal for a reliable 4x4. not fast, not pretty. but it will drive through snow.

just a little project to keep me busy when im home.:wiggle:

As someone familiar with the Jeep community itself, I'd say you may get somewhere around $3500-$4000 for it. Granted, I haven't seen pictures but that's what a 98 -should- go for considering how well Jeeps keep their value. Here in the midwest that's the average price I see stockers going for of that year.

True-market-value can disagree all it wants. Check around actual Jeep forums, and you'll see the later models of XJs going for a bit more than that in private sales. Also, I didn't realize it was a 2 door. Given that fact, you should check on the NAXJA forums and see if anyone will bite. They love the 2 doors there. Given that those flares can be painted easily and are just plastic, that Jeep is in great condition just judging from that picture.

Perhaps not quite what you're hoping for, but you could probably get close to $4000

you wont get 4200 unless you find someone incredible stupid ... and you should get a bit mroe than 2k ....

my 97 ZJ, in similar shape with 160k, brought 5k .... in 2006

your xj ... with gas prices like they are, and in the shape its in ... expect 3k in or around on a private party deal ...

so you have an artificially-high market. that doesn't mean he didn't get ripped off.

    um, yes it does.

gettin ripped off implies you paid a Ridiculous amount of money more than it is worth. just because its not the right vehicle price for you doesnt automatically mean it wasnt for someone else.

many people who are ripped off were okay with what they paid. otherwise, many of them wouldn't have bought it. :hsugh:

ripped off means you paid much more than what another person could generally get it for.

correct, but vehicles on autotrader.com coast to coast were going for very solid prices. so i still dont think i was asking a dumb amount.

How the fuck can a market be "artificially-high"?

    There's a difference between "unsustainable" and "artificially-high".

Markets vary by region because of transaction costs. In a world with no transaction costs (or information costs), the same vehicle would be worth one price, no matter the region. This is not true, therefore the markets for vehicles vary by region. A vehicle may bring more money in one region than another.

This price difference does mean "artificially-high" because there is no such thing as an "artificial" market unless it's completely made up. These are real markets, and therefore are not "artificial". Do you understand, you stupid sack of faggot shit?
