Folk like Opeth and Ulver?

    So I really like the parts in Opeth songs when they slip into the dark, minor folk styles with layered guitar parts. This is what lead me to pick up Ulver - Kveldssanger.

    Any other recommendations along these lines? Can be instrumental or not.

    (I posted this on OiNK but it disappeared to page 2 faster than an OT main page thread. Go figure.)

    that is one of the main reasons i love opeth. id be interested in some recommendations as well

    Insomnium and Dark Tranquility are often compared to Opeth. Personally, I believe Opeth is in a league of their own.

    ensiferium, arkona (the russian one not the polish one), cruachan, equilibrium, bathory (not really old bathory, stuff like blood fire death is just osbm), fintroll, nokturnal mortem (sorta), korpiklaani, wintersun.

    those might not be exactly what you are looking for but all great folk metal.

    farmakon is somewhat Opeth-like, but a lot more varied. i'm sure they'll have something you'd like.
