Flying in on the 16th, staying for a week. I'll be in Spring Texas staying with my sister in law's.

I signed my contract the other day and will be shooting for the Rudy Project USA Shooting Team. It'll be the first time I get to meet the rest of the team members. We've got a squad to shoot the Space City Challenge from 17th through 19th where I'll be going for gold or bust. A couple of Grand Masters and Masters in Texas. BJ Norris is also co sponsored for our team, along with shooting for S&W.

Sister says it's in the 70's and 80's there rite now. I can't wait to trade the snow in for some sun. Anyhow, maybe I can get a few WMD'ers to come out to the match and down a few cold ones afterwards.

Anyone interested in shooting an open gun?

That's neat. Is the range you are shooting at around Houston?

I think so. Address of the range is: 3050 FM 528 Friendswood, TX (lol at "Friendswood")

I don't know, I'll be packing the Tom Tom with me so I don't end up in BFE somewhere. :mamoru:

It's an ugly looking gun that resembles a buck rogers ray gun. Pure race.

Does working at my buddies machine shop in south Dallas count?

And I think I see a few come into the law office.

Oh fuck, in then, that's near my house... just FYI, spring is like the other side of the world from that range... It's easily 2 hours in traffic...

Hmm, I'll be in Houston that weekend and this match is maybe 5 miles from my buddies house. I may actually make an attempt at coming to watch.

Also, it's at Pearland Shooting Club (in Friendswood!) That place is pretty awesome, Private range.

My squad is assigned to start at 8am on Saturday. Looks like another early morning for me. Traffic still bad around that time on a Saturday?

I'll be there the Friday before registering. It's going to be a fun match that usually draws some pretty noteable shooters from around the US.

i'm not completely familiar with the type of thing i'm seeing...

also- tom-tom sucks- it suggested a route that was 2 hours longer than the google maps route
print out a google maps route, and use tom-tom as a backup

Oh no traffic won't be bad on Saturday morning, but depending when you're driving down there Friday it may suck. One thing to note is that if your tom-tom takes you down 45... You may want to re-route once you get on the south side of town because of construction... We'll see as it gets closer, PM me and I can give you some good alternate routes.

What time are you going to be there Friday?

I'm aiming to get there on Friday 12-2pm. I'd like to walk around and check out the stages. I should be there for a while BS'ing with folks. There's going to be a good gathering of Brian Enos forum guys there as well there.

Thanks for the heads up on the Tom Tom (xmas pres). :mamoru:

This is a "game" gun. Others call it a race gun. It's primarily for IPSC shooting.

Open division is the outlaw division in IPSC. It's the "anything goes" division. Well, almost anything, few restrictions. This is the gun handgun instructors warned you about.

Basically 7 port comp'ed bull barrel with 2 popples. C More laser point sight system, 30 round capacity of 9mm "Major" ammo (9mm going 1400fps) 1lb 12oz trigger, Race holster and a magwell that can swallow small animals.

Gun recoils like a .22. 7 port Titanium Comp, on a Poppled bull barrel combined by slide lightening has a very light "push back" recoil that goes straight back to your hand. And It's loud as hell.

What time you expect to be finished on Saturday? Gonna talk it over with the SO to see if we can make it. It's a good 4+ hour drive for us but if we make it we will have guns in tow.
