Fisher Price: My First Powerlifting Meet (results)

    Gotta run to work but here are the results from my first pl meet. I competed at the 2006 PA State Championships.

    Squat - 452lb
    Bench - 214lb
    Deadlift - 440lb

    I'll post a full update later. It was a great time. I was uncontested in my division, 220lb Junior, so I got a nice trophy which is really nifty. For my next meet I really want to bring up my bench and maybe pick up a shirt.

    Update:

    So after all that worrying I ended up coming in at 97kg. Put me about 7lbs underweight. I hopped on the meet scale the night before so after that I wasn't too worried. As a first meet it went very well. I went 8/9 at the meet and had a great time. Things moved very fast once they got started but once I got my first squat in I was ok. The judging was very fair and overall things went very smoothly. There were a few other first timers so I talked to them a bit when I had a little break. For anyone wanting to compete... GO FOR IT! I had a great coach and tons of support from people from my gym/fellow lifters. I can't wait for my next meet.

    what age bracket is jr.?

    congrats, nice squat and dead but yeah bench could use some upping :)

    20-23 I think. As for my bench....yeah its low but I just started lifting in may and as of oct my max was 155. I have confidence it'll come up.....just need to keep busting my ass int he gym.

    I am suprised he was not against you last time he competed 220 jr also

    He might have been an OOS Junior. There was one or two of them I think.

    I dont quite understand how your bench can be that low compared to those nice squat and DL numbers.

    if you had to pause when the bar touched your chest, thatd do it.

    Sigh... don't rub it in... But yeah... adjusting to the new pl form, the pause, and my weak triceps are to blame I think. It'll come with time I think.

    Oh a cool thing I found out today. A bunch of my co-workers said they saw me on the news last night. Apparently they got me when I was either warming up or on the platform. I guess I was setting up for my squat they said I was making faces. Sadly I didn't catch it but I'm gonna try and get a copy of the clip from the station.

    Thanks... I'll prolly be training for the Push/Pull down in Allentown in May. You or anyone you know gonna be lifting at that?

    Great job. Don't worry your bench will come around soon enough. You still have a ton of time to grow. My dl is still 200+ lbs over my bench too.
