    ..I have a few questions.

I've been trying to get used to aperture only mode and I'm a little confused.

The dial that changes the aperture-- which way do I turn it for larger? The opposite way is obviously smaller.

I'm using the kit lens and I'm getting confused about how aperture only works. I'm assuming 5.6 is all the way open. But at times the highest I can get is 3.5 or something like that. The answer to the above question would help a ton. Thanks.

    large # = small opening
    small # = large opening

in a variable aperture, like 3.5-5.6, the 3.5 is when the focal length is at its shortest. ex: 18mm on an 18-55mm lens
when you have it on aperture mode, you can only go down as low as it allows for that focal length, but you can go up as high as like f/32 (i think for that lens)

Just use manual, and read the manual. You'll get it fast.

It's counter intuitive large number = less light, small # = more light

I was mainly confused why I'd get one small number one time and a different another time. Now it makes sense though.

What's a good habit to get into? Compose the shot; adjust aperture, shutter speed, etc; focus; then take shot?
