This is gonna be awesome. I have my first BJJ tourney on Sunday. I'm doing both the gi and no gi divisions. I only was told about it on Friday so I haven't had much time to prepare, but it should be a blast. Any advice from the seasoned vets?

you may or may not do both gi and no gi divisions. you'd be surprised how tired your body can be after the first day. it depends how the first day goes. my first was gi and no gi too, and i could only show up for the first day, and same for my friends. good luck with that ;)

I've only been doing bjj for 2 months so I'm doing whitebelt and the under 1 year division for no gi.

I train right next to my house with the only blackbelt in Michigan. I have been training pretty much every day with the brown and purple belts so I got good pretty quickly.

Good luck, you should do pretty well. You may not win, but you should give whoever beats you a pretty hard time.

yeah thats exactly the experience level i had when i did my first tournament.

just dont think about getting tired. and warm your body up well with someone from your school. roll around with him a bit, but very light, so that you get your brain thinking in grappling mode. its not good to go from 0-100 mph if you catch my drift.

and DONT think about getting tired. as soon as you worry about how tired you are, youre gonna get a hell of a lot more tired. and dont assume one person there is better than you.

me too, and i just recently started getting over it. once you get over that, you start to perform more the way that you do in training.

Thanks a lot. I don't think that there is really any possibility of me getting tired. Matches are 5 minutes for gi, 6 for no gi. That shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks a lot guys. I'm trying really hard to get someone to tape this, but I'm not sure if it's gonna happen.
