hey guys! I wanted to get into photography so I bought a:

    Canon t1i
    Canon 50mm 1.8
    Canon 28-135 3.5-5.6
    Kit lens

I'm not sure what else I might need to buy? I'm still getting into it.
I mainly take pictures of nature, hanging out with the bros and girlfriend, portrait shots, and some action shots :naughty::naughty:.

I do have a question or two though? I went to a bonfire tonight and took a few pictures of the fire? I was playing around with the "iso" and the other thing in the upper left hand corner that says 1/8, 1/400, 1/300, etc. here's kinda what happened:

I think it looked pretty cool. But I wanted to do the thing where, I think it's called exposure time?, so that I push the button down and it takes a long picture of the fire moving? My friend did it when we went on a hike and it made the water look soft?

Anyways, any flaming, trolling, critiquing, any responses are appreciated :)

hey man, i never actually post in here and actually just started in this stuff myself, but if this is anything like F&N someone is going to tell you to read the stickies, as would be their prerogative, since i too learned a lot of what you're asking for in said stickies...

    hey man
fire will not be an easy thing to shoot until you understand exposure becuase the flames will throw your camera's meter WAY off

try other subjects first, shoot in full auto (green box), move to aperture/shutter priority, then go into full manual

no post on exposure would ever be complete without me suggesting this book: http://www.amazon.com/Understanding...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1253727194&sr=8-1

I see. Thanks so much :) I'm going to read the stickies and see if I can start to use that info to take better pictures. :)

Indeed, read the stickies. Then maybe we can go out and shoot sometime and I can try to explain some stuff to you.
