Hey guys. I have been tasked with creating a website and could use a little assistance. I am in the Army and will be leaving for Iraq in January. My company commander has tasked me with creating a website for the company to upload pictures. I am a computer guy, but have never done any web design. The website doesn't have to be anything exotic, but here's what I am going to need:

    Photo uploader
    Photo Gallery with Thumbnails
Blog or something for announcements or other general information

I'm not asking anybody to do it for me as I would like to learn, but I figure some of you guys might have some resources you can point me in the direction of or some good advice? There won't be any advertising or anything like that on it. Just a place for us to upload photos to share with each other and our families.

    Photo Gallery Scripts:
    http://coppermine-gallery.net/ - A simple photo gallery solution.
http://gallery.menalto.com/ - A more feature rich photo gallery solution.

For your blog, I recommend WordPress. It's extremely easy to install and even easier to use. http://wordpress.org/

WordPress is very versatile and can be customized to any look you need with free templates that are available from a number of sources.

If you need any help, let me know. And stay safe! [IMG]

Thanks for the info! I will definitely take a look at these. I've been meaning to learn some website stuff, so this is a good opportunity.

    Gallery blows.

I use CMG myself and love it. Haven't had any issues with it, and it runs much faster than gallery installed on the same hardware.

You check out simpleviewer? Installation is cake. Just throw photos in a folder with simpleviewer, and its done.
