Today was my boyfriend, Market Garden's first time shooting IDPA. I came and took video and (a few) photos before my camera's battery died. It was pretty cool, entertaining, laid back, but exhausting after 4 hours. I'm pumped about trying it for the first time, but less keen on the notion of doing it with my revolver, I may just borrow Market Garden's Glock 29 and get a holster for it. Here are some(most) of the photos that I took. Ari, (AB13) likely has the video. :hsd:

So you stand around, and sort of do a course walkthrough, where your group leader person tells you what you're supposed to be doing, how many shots go into each target, what sequence, etc.

Then everyone gets a turn to shoot the course, getting timed and observed

After each person shoots, everyone else in your group(usually around 10 people) goes through and set the stage back up(re rigging swinging targets, taping up holes in cardboard ones, and setting hinged metal targets back up) and also score you and check out your shooting skillz.

And all the range bags -

Those are all of the notable photos that I have. I can't wait to try it out!

lol, you must have kids too.

Seattle is like 2 hours away give or take. Dude, if you drive up here I'll hook you up with some gear to use to shoot. :bigthumb:

No kids, no wife, no gf.. and a large toybox. I've got everything I think IDPA requires, and I train like I shoot, so I'd probably bring my own stuff, but that's a hell of an offer. Thanks. Might need some 9mm, though.

Carry ammo is DPX. Can you get similar loadings with FMJ in 115gr?

I got in an debate with some guy who writes pistol articles for magazines about what I should carry. :hs: He seemed to think that I could easily conceal/carry a 1911, just as easily as my teeny tiny revolver. :o

 that was Duane Thomas of Guns and Ammo, also a Master shooter in IDPA. Yeah, Duane is a character but is a cool guy. Personally I think your good with the snubby, that's what I rock for CCW. :bigthumb:

Yeah. I figure if I'm in 99% of self-defense situations, I'm not going to be more than 10 feet away from who I'm shooting, and I'm more likely to carry a sub-pound gun than a 1911.

I decided that I'd probably not enjoy shooting if I had to do reloads every 5 rounds. We called my boyfriend's father this morning and he's going to let me borrow his Glock 20(full size 10mm) to shoot, and Craig found a holster that should work for me, so now I'm practicing using the slide release left-handed. I'm totally pumped about this now. :eek5:

I took this one of her today. She's lost a few pounds recently and is looking pretty good to me! I think she could concealed carry an AR-15.
