First time at gym today

    did a little of everything, people just get me used to the machines. Friends think its pathetic i can only bench 100lb(3set,8rep) and max at 120. I'm 5' 8 140. Is it that that bad? not that it matters that much because atleast i go to the gym unlike them.But is that a horrible bench for a little guy like me,first timer?

    It's not that bad for a complete beginner. I mean, it's weak, but if you keep lifting you'll get stronger :dunno:

    no i dont think thats too bad, especially at 140. i can only bench about 70kg ~150lbs and im 6' 3. However most of the benching i do is with db's and i can hoist 25kg db's for 10 reps, my max could probably be 30 kg dbs for 1-2 reps. my workout focuses more on size than strength

    I was having troubles with my left arm couple weeks ago and i haven't trained bench at all after that. I have been also sick(hard flu) now for a week and haven't eat nothing but pain killers. But today i tried something opener for next week bench meet and made good success with it, whish was surprice for me. I might get some big numbers there when i get well from this flu at last. Hope everything goes well there.

    and... doing 3 sets of 8 reps @ 100, i'd think your bench should be a little higher than 120...
