I've been lurking in here for a week or so and I decided i'd like to get some advice..

This is my first post processing, ever.

I was big into print photography a few years back (10 or so) and recently got a Canon XS. This picture is from my point and shoot canon sd550..

    fire away :noes:

    Original picture, no post processing:

I think you took it too far, but I'm not a big fan of processed look. I think somewhere right between your original and your post will look.

    same here. :dunno:

The original picture wasn't a masterpiece to begin with, but w/ the processing, it came out a lot better IMO!

I like the way it came out considering what you had to start with!

I would bring the black down just a notch as it is starting to blend in with the shadow of the dog...also perhaps more contrast to the eyes.

    thank you for the reviews..

I have tons of pictures and i've prided myself on not doing any post processing.. however i realized at some point it really can make an ok picture above average.

So this was my first attempt.

I plan on working on a few more tonight.
