First tattoo idea v. Got It!

Haven't gotten a tattoo yet. I could never think of anything that really caught my eye. I wasn't about to get any of the carbon copy stuff that they show, I wanted something that was me or reflected my families past. This is what I have come up with.

*Awesome* camera phone pic of a drawing:

I got a little carried away with the size of the bird, it would have to be downsized somewhat but the strip would stay the same size ~7/8" tall, it would go completely around my leg. The bird would be a grayish color, some gold in the strip and gold/brown in the axe. It would go onto one of my legs (calf), haven't decided which one yet but I am leaning to my right.

I'm pretty set on the design. Any things I might do to make it better? Things that might be harder to reproduce with a gun instead of a pencil?

i think that looks pretty good, what significance does it have with you or your family out of curiosity???

I'd say if its going on your leg the bird would need to be a bit smaller, depending how big your legs are i guess

Its the bird off of the war flag off of the Italian Socialist Republic, which my grandfather served for in WWII.

I changed it very little. Straightened up its wings, flipped around the axe and moved it to the right and messed with the shading. Dont want a big grey blob on the back of my leg.

If you don't want a blob you're not gonna have most of the detail in the wings/body of the bird. At that size (going by the size you want the band) the bird will have to be very very simple.

    Good to know, thanks.

Perhaps I will have to look into putting the bird somwehere else and maybe just do the band on the leg. I still have two weeks in WY before I will be anywhere where I would let someone mod me (UT). Finding body mod shops in Wyoming is difficult, especially in the area where I live.

I like the idea there bro. My nonno served in the Italian army during WW2 as well.

I'm actually getting a tattoo representing part of my background as well (I'll post pics once I get it done).

Im working on my second as well, it will show backgrounds from both sides. Its still in the works as I am currently doing a little research so I can get everything perfect. I dont see me getting two done in the two weeks off that I have coming up (if I even get the second one finished) so Ill probably save that one for late Sept.

And recently. Its hard to bend to take pics of the back of your own leg.

The band wraps all the way around, figured that was pretty obvious though. Thoughts?
