I got my first tat yesterday. Its on my left bicep starting at my shoulder running about halfway down my bicep. I completely forgot that I have to go get my blood pressure checked tomorrow. They've been checking it on both arms. I think the BP sleeve might just barely cover the very lower portion of the tat. Should I be concerned about the tat? Should I reschedule the appointment until next week?

i'd keep a sleeve over it or a piece of gauze to keep the cuff off the tat - it's still an open wound so you don't want germs in it and the cuff may not be all that sterile.

other than that, i wouldn't worry about it.

I normally sleep on my left side and was afraid to sleep on it because of the pressure on it. I could picture waking up with a gray tat and black sheets. :mamoru:

They got me on meds for the BP, so they have been checking it on both arms. I'll tell the nurse about the tat and have her/him throw some gauze around it first.

Its a panther, and I think only the tail will be under the cuff.

    totally normal.

in fact, most artists will plan for that, and use lots of ink, knowing that some of it will leak back out. no biggie. generally it's just excess, and if you do lose too much, most likely your artist will touch it up no problem.

A bit late now, but you can also have your blood pressure checked on your forearm or wrist...Or even your leg.

I had it done on both arms as usual. The cuff barely covered the tail. I did feel a bit of aching in it afterward, but it is healing normal. (5 days now and I'm getting the flakes). No itching, though. :noes:

Not the most creative, or even original, but it caught my eye:

i'm a little late for this one, but ran into a scary story from a friend/customer the other day.

he's doing a full leg sleeve and had about 7-8 hours done on his thigh/knee area.
he went in to the doctors to have his knee looked at(chronic pain, old injury, not tattoo related)
he forgot to tell his doc that the tattoo was fresh and the office he was at is very tattoo/mod friendly.
the doctor touched his tattoo bare handed

long story short, few days later developed a staph infection....luckily he caught it in time and was given a round of oral and topical antibiotics.

always be careful with fresh tattoo/piercings in doctors offices...alot of medical proffesionals are ignorant to the fact that these are fresh open wounds
