Some of you may have seen my college EDU thread in the main forum with these pics, but I'd like to get some comments on them. Mainly tips on lighting and stuff. I've never shot any indoor stuff like this before. Most of them were tripod mounted with longer exposures and a rear flash.

I don't use a flash often so I'd like some advice. I noticed a lot of shadows and stuff, how do prevent this?

Anyways, here's the pics of my apartment.

Cool pad. Not how I'd have the bedroom set up (looks crowded on one side).

    That TV looks miles away.

you can get as close as you want, but you'll feel like you're 5 feet away. Its so weird too... I'd get cloooooooooooose to my son's face, and I still get everything around it.

I'm uploading some pics I took at the wedding I shot yesterday w/ it... I'll post them in a sec.

I need to pick up either a 10 prime or something close to a 10-20 for my Nikon.

I shoot a number of car shows, and sometimes I cannot get far enough away to get the whole car in the shot.

d40 is great. The only problem is if you actually use it you'll quickly want a d80 or greater. I just got a d40 and I'm glad I did, but again I can't pick up a 50mm 1.8 or a sigma 24-70mm 2.8 and have them work. I can't buy a cheap 70-300 (less than $150) and have it work. So right now I'm stuck with the kit lens, the 55-200 AF-S VR, and really can only pick up a Tamron 17-50 2.8 and the sigma 30mm 1.4 before I HAVE to upgrade the body for other lenses.

Great camera and it takes wonderful shots, but if you get bit by the photography bug you'll find yourself moving up pretty quick. If you're comfortable with just the kit lens and the 55-200mm VR lens then the d40 is the best value in the world. In fact I'd suggest it over the d60 just for the 1/500 flash sync and 150 savings added to the fact that you'll end up upgrading in a year anyway.

oh gotcha, i'd just upgrade to a D50, D70, or D80 and then you don't have to worry about lens capability.

im really interested in the 11-16 as well, but i've read mixed opinions about it.
overall the pic quality is great, but some ppl have wrote about image issues on the right side of the lens. :o
