So, this was kind of an impromptu session with a friend of mine. I only had 2 lights with me and no background. So I took a white(ish) sheet and hung it against the wall. I tried to get it white, but it just wansn't happening with my setup.

My lighting was 580EX II camera right with 43" shoot through umbrealla at a 45 and Sunpak 383 camera left and 45 behind her shoothing through a 32 umbrella.

Shot at F11 @ 1/30th to try and get some more light on the background. I know not the best shot, but given what I had to work with and such a short notice I think it's a pretty nice shot. I need to do something with the background though, smooth out those wrinkles or something.

Any C&C? I've got a bunch more to go through, but I think this is the best one so far.

Yeah, I know... I can't get the fucking copy of CS4 I downloaded to install. (Fucking thing tells me to insert Adobe DVD into C:\ !!!) I already deleted CS3 and I'm tired of fucking with it tonight.

I like the pic, the only thing that bothers me is the hair in from of the eye. I like the chair and less than perfect background, I guess because to me it makes the photo seem more real. But that is just a personal preference, I just like photos with some flaws. The "perfect" pictures look great but also have a kinda fake look about them to me. That's just my $0.02 though, I am no pro, I just know what I like.

This is what I need to work on. During the shoot I was just at a loss for the most part as how to pose her, it was kinda awkward and would have been really awkward if we weren't good friends.

Are there any sort of guides or repositories of a bunch of varied poses that work well? I tried to keep her facing me for the most part as she's really self conscious about her nose.

    Perhaps, maybe...

Is that for the CORE release? The site I got it from packs the files so damn weird I figgured I just had a problem with the decompressing so I was going to give it another go soon. I'll keep that in mind though.

Yeah, the time of day for this wasn't really the best. She had just gotten off work, went to the gym to work out, came back and showered. No makeup, pretty much just dried her hair and we took pics... lol I guess I was mainly just trying to get some ideas for lighting as she's going to be my model for some B&W work in a studio shooting some 120 though a Hassy!

Usually you get an .iso that you mount to to virtual drive, right click, explore and copy all that to the desktop. Then open the setup.exe from the desktop leaving the .iso mounted.

I guess another question I had is, what about the shadow on her neck. Is that and "acceptable" shadow for this type of lighting? I kind of like it because IMO it's not too harsh, and helps separate the head from the body as the focal point.

Am I right, or am I McNoob?
