My dad and I got permission to call up some coyotes today on a big ranch in south Texas. We didn't manage to get any coyotes but did manage to run up on a bobcat. He was out in a clearing checking something out on the ground. By the time I got the gun up he was moving to my left at about 100 yds. out. I shot him just above the left eye. His right eye was completely white from a previous altercation I guess. Weighed in at about 35 lbs with 4 1/2" paws.

Pics tomorrow, he's iced down right now ready to head to the taxidermist.

Ironic actually, the UCM mascot is the bobcat, but the PD is probably going to ask the state for permission to get supressors to deal with them on campus.

I was a little farther up on the coast. We could see the water towers in Port O'conner.
Just one small hole a little above the left eye. He dropped like a rock, then about 10 seconds later got up and moved about 10 ft. Made me think I missed.

Just a cam phone shot until I dig through the ice....Not in ahurry to do that cause it's in the mid 30's out there.

Bobcats rule. My friend has a cat that is very obviously part bobcat (30 lbs. of solid muscle), he's a really cool cat. His meow is like Barry White low.

that was a hypothetical scenario used for an example of why they would need them in the first place. since there is no bobcat problem, there will most likely be no suppressors. unfortunately. :sad2:

I can't decide how I want to get it mounted. Just standing there, or catching something, quail, dove, rabbit. Anyone have a unique idea? I'd like to show off the white eye:big grin:

Make sure to tell the taxidermist then, you do know they dont use the original eyes right?

what, you didnt hear the story about when Andrew and Dennis were driving around campus and found some on campus? Besides, as it expands, I bet there will be more of them.

What they really need them for is the goddamn rabbits everywhere.

The taxidermist is a friend of a friend. The first question I had him ask for me is how the eye would be done. It's really one of the only reasons I'm getting it mounted, that and it's my first bobcat.
