It's finally here!!!
Well... do you like it? How does it compare to the G5 (Assuming that's what you came from)?
Is it as 'speedy' as promised?
I've only had it on for a few minutes, but all I can say that applications like iTunes, iPhoto, Safari, etc... all open almost instantaneously - definitely faster than on the 2.1GHz iMac G5 I just packed away.
Here is my setup.
wtf sub on teh desk? :floor:
No. I'm tired of having shit under my desk that I keep kicking. No PC tower is a big reason for getting the iMac.
Foot room >*
only reason i havent picked up an intel machine yet is because photoshop uses rosetta and its slowed down a bit
when they make -chop native for the intel machines, ill be out there like a fag on a skating rink
true, isnt the sound of a sub on the floor > the sound of a sub on a desk?
and doesnt make all yo shit vibrate and make noise?
I only use photoshop for taking up space on my HD and I made my AV with it two years ago.
When I crank the bass, the desk kind of vibrates (you can feel it) but no rattling sounds or anything.
Besides, I live in a condo, and I have to keep the bass at a reasonable level - so far, it works fine on the desk.
That thing puts out some pretty serious bass though.
yea, most don't use it for much more than that but i do alot of my college projects on dat nga
awesome setup even if i think teh sub should be on da ground
adorable.....simply fucking adorable
i was expecting and got kinda pissed but then i saw and went "awwwwwww nga awwwww"
I'm running Bits on Wheels (downloading Lost) - my first Rosetta app!
I wish I could mount it on the side of the filing cabinet to the left of the desk, but there is no way to do it.
rofl serious bass from a JBL creature.
It's my new favorite smilie. I use it for just about any occasion.
I'm sure things are faster because it's a dual core, whereas the old iMacs were single.
You should see if you can find a HD w/Windows on it and try to boot from it.
I'm not technoo-geek. I wouldn't even know where to start with that shit. Besides, windows sucks teh dick.
doesn't it also have a 2mb cache? I had a Pentium Pro 200 back in the day with 2mb L2 and it seemed a lot faster than a regular Pentum 400.
Machine Name: iMac
Machine Model: iMac4,1
CPU Type: Intel Core Duo
Number Of Cores: 2
CPU Speed: 2 GHz
L2 Cache (shared): 2 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: IM41.0039.B00
Serial Number: XXXXXXXXXXX
SMC Version: 1.1f2
wish i had a i(ntel)Mac
I don't know why apple feels the need to put a low-voltage moblie processor in anything but a laptop. New imacs should have a 3.6 dual-core pentium D or equiv. right?!?!?!
i dont understand it either.
damn i wish i had waited and got the intel mac, i got mine in nov. with the protection plan
