Finally my dad has a cool car. His 96 STS was semi cool until it started crapping out on every aspect (even though it only had like 55k miles). He started out looking for something like a Grand Marquis, but I got him to test drive a Legacy GT and he liked it but he's always been a fan of RWD/V8 cars (he liked his STS but hated the FWD). So when we went to the Ford dealer to look at the Crown Vics/Grand Marqs, a 05 Stang caught his eye and I could notice a little gleam on his eye as he was taken back to his younger days. I KNEW i had to do something. So I quickly convinced him to take a test drive, and since the car was VERY attractively priced, he agreed to consider it. He spent three days mulling it over and finally took it home yesterday. :headbang:

I actually love the car and want one for myself, maybe after i pay off the LGT. His is automatic, so the throttle response is a little dissapointing, but once you are on the gas (even though i havent taken it over 3,500) it GOES. Some materials on the dash are questionable but overall it was much better than i expected. Now im dying to test drive a manual one...which the dealer didnt have.

CN : my dad ditched his 96 STS and got a 05 Stang GT.

    on to the pics :

Congrats, man. What options and what price did he get it for?

I'm gonna wait a couple of years until I'm 25. My insurance goes down, used Mustang GT's will be cheaper, and I'll pick me up a little hot one with low miles and a manual transmission. :bigthumb:

the only options i can think of are the shaker 6 cd/mp3 stereo, the alum dash trim? , leather seats?

the price was 32k, but cars are several thousand dollars more expensive in PR due to import taxes. For reference, my legacy GT was 33k, an STi is 39k, evos are 37k.. :dunno:

well i thought V6s were more prevalent everywhere, considering they outsell the GT by a lot... (lots of teenage girls buy them :mamoru: )

Bet you wish that you lived where I do. Southern California... just coming out of June gloom, 90 degree days all summer long, here I come.

Plus, the fiancee has the Z28 'vert. That's the perfect beach car. :naughty:

Eh, not a terrible tranny. At least it's a 5-speed auto. Still, going to have a tough time pulling down even 20 MPG average if he drives anything like I think that he should.

i havent beat on it yet (break in?) but i foudn the tranny a little disconcerting...the throttle response seemed slow (is it throttle by wire?) and the tranny seemed unsure of what gear to use ... i dont know maybe im too used to driving manual? :dunno:

he absolutely loves the car so i guess thats what counts :)

ill sneak a peek at his MPG later :)

i guess it will learn after a while... at least thats what happened with my car, after a week it had crisped up the throttle response according to my driving habits...

It's the same on my '04 Grand Prix. I hate throttle by wire. Unless I actually get on it once in a while, the car seems sluggish as hell. After driving in my GF's LS1, the throttle response on the GP seems slow as molasses.

    Throttle cable > Drive-by-wire
