I'll be competing in my first meet on Saturday. Just hoping some members could advise me on what to expect. Should I bring food/gatorade? What is the schedule usually like - the meet is from 10-6 but I've no idea when I'll actually be lifting during that time.

I'm sure everyone will chime in with their experiences and I would write up something long myself but i need to sleep so i'll just say this:

    STAY HYDRATED!

Its easy to get caught up in the rush of things and forget to get your fluids in. Good luck and smash some PR's!

btw - what class/weight are you competing in? any idea of your openers yet?

Bring at least a gallon of gatorade/pedialyte and some bcaa's or whatever pre workout supplements you normally take.

If its a full meet you'll probably want some kind of food like a protein bar or something to eat in between events.

I try and get in a lot of food just after squatting. benching its not so bad to have a bit of food in your gut.

Yeah I didn't eat anything before the squat, you'll probably be so nervous you won't want to eat until after you get a squat in. After that I slammed some pizza and gatorade and was good to go for the rest of the day.

Of course some people eat a small (or lage) breakfast before and are fine so its more of an individual thing.

what federation is it? you probably want to look up the rules for the individual lifts you are going to be getting judged on and internalize them
