I just got my 40D a few weeks ago and have only taken a handful of pics. I'm brand new to photography, have never really owned a camera before and have no idea what I'm doing.

What do you think of the picture?

Can you give me some tips/comments on what I did wrong in this picture and how I can make it better?

    Thanks

If you're going to tilt it, tilt it more. Otherwise, it doesn't look right with it only being a few degrees off of a straight horizen.

    To the OP:
Like others have said, if you're going to fuck the angle, commit and do it all the way, past 20-30 degrees. Other than that it's not too bad for a noobsticle. The unevenly lit powerlines are what is called visual distraction, since you can't get them even lit or all going the same way you should leave them out if possible, I would take it into PS and burn them out.

The depth is another matter. You have such a good viewpoint, and you're not taking advantage of it. Tinker around with the blur tools, and change the point of focus to your liking.

They make for great shots sometimes, but in this particular instance they're just too distracting. Everything in your shot that's not the subject should compliment the subject.
