    I know the content is probably drab, but I was taking pics of tools to put up on craigslist, and I think I somewhat figured out my new camera, so here goes...

    sockets
    [IMG]

    toolbox
    [IMG]

    bike
    [IMG]

    only light was from the workbench and outside streetlight. I think the bike pic is a little overexposed. anyway, lemme have it :hsd:

    1.) white balance off, weird angle causes a confusing composition for me, I don't know what I'm looking at...if you're doing just the tools, zoom in and fill the frame.

    2.) again, composition, my eyes go directly to the cheap plastic fan in the center of the light source, not the the tool box (which is only lit half way...) try moving the tool box into the center of the garage, hitting it with the light (or two) with the open door in the background the way you did with #3, if you're trying to sell this on craigslist, don't leave me guess wtf I'm buying by cluttering the picture with all the other stuff

    3.) white balance is off again. ugly truck & couch distracting from the bike of which I CAN"T EVEN SEE! if you're doing one object, make your eyes go directly to that object, keep the rest of the frame simple.

    I'm sure they'll be more :wavey:

    You mean under exposed? :confused:

    And I don't really get how those would fly for selling things on Craigslist... I wouldn't have known that pic two was supposed to be focusing on the toolbox if you hadn't told me so.

    do I mean underexposed? I am not sure. it was super pitch black in the garage and had the aperture at f7, with an exposure time at like 13secs. I didnt really focus on the toolbox, just the general area. :hs:

    I am only selling the sockets on craiglist, but ventured off on a picture taking rampage with the other stuff. :hsugh:

    Oh ok, gotcha.

    Overexposed = too much light came through, making things blown out
    Underexposed = not enough light, making things too dark.

    Just FYI

    it seems to me like you haven't figured your camera out at all...

    first pic is orange. the white balance is gone. I'm also not sure what i'm supposed to be looking at, because everything is either sort of out of focus or entirely out of focus. Your focus and your light dictates what people look at, remember that.

    pic 2 is a picture of a carboard box. or it's a picture of a fan. There's a toolbox in that shot? Oh, yeah. Guess there is. awesome.

    Pic 3 is a picture of... I see a surfboard looking thing and a truck tire. Not sure what else. Guess that's a motorcycle in the middle, but there's no light on it, so I don't give a fuck what it is. Cool couch filled with shit though, reminds me of college.

    Only if you were taking pictures of... No. Nevermind. Nothing in that shot is overexposed. Overexposed means too much light.

    Nothing in that shot has too much light.

    Actually, the only things that have enough light are the things I wish weren't lit at all. I mean who cares about a cluttered couch and a truck tire?

    the bike has no light. So it's underexposed.

    Overexposed = Closer to white.

    Underexposed = Closer to black.

    Thanks everyone for the painful criticism. Im taking it all in with open arms.

    the first shot, I just grabbed most of my sockets in a big bunch and took shots at them.

    toolbox is a standard craftsman box. top box is full, bottom is almost full. getting rid of duplicate tools. :hs:

    I meant the shot "toolbox" was cool.
