I started in August of last year, had my first tournament in December. Went 0-2 (gi and no-gi). Competed in a second tournament earlier this month and went 1-2 (0-1 gi 1-1 no-gi). Plan to compete again in May or sooner if something else close comes up.

yeah the dude I went against had grappled for years and competed in pancrase at some level, but had a white in bjj so that's what he competed as. no biggie. my second tournament I lost to a guy with pro fights. again no biggie. my third tournament against people my level I won handily.

what tourney do you have in mind?

and it was good to see and roll with you when you stopped in last night at the gym. come back again sometime.

tameem (chechen) will come back in and help out (i'll bribe him with mcdonalds french fries).

I did low level nogi for about 6 months last year took a few months off and had been training 2 months in a gi before my first tournament.

I lost both matches and was outclassed in my gi match, but I could have beaten a few guys in my nogi division.

    No regrets.

youre a 155lb'er for sure then. and after rolling with you, i think you have a good chance of doing alright in a tourney.

why's everyone so eager to cut weight? it fucking sucks and if you've never done it before it'll probably hurt you more than it helps. the nerves and adrenaline of competing for the first time will guaranteed gas you the fuck out unless it ends really fast.

i feel like when you're just starting it's more for the experience. :dunno:

    .

White belt isn't really about winning its about the experience.

and because its your first comp your gonna be buzzing all day that by the time you get out onto the mat your gonna be tired. Trust me, stay at your natural weight.
