I can't get over how well the D700 handles high ISOs. It's gonna take about two-three months to pay it off but it's worth every single penny:

    1) Popped the flash 2 or 3 times at 1/8 power to get the droplet frozen and fill the left side
    [IMG]

    2) This one I hit it like 3 times around it (with a tungsten gel again)

    3) Walking around the village, ISO1600
    [IMG]

4)Walking home from the train with the [email protected] ISO3200
    [IMG]

    5) 20 Second exposure at ISO800, shot in complete darkness
    [IMG]

    6) Shot a girl from Model Mayhem today. I was having trouble at first but I think I got a couple of good ones.

I love this thing. As soon as I pay this off I'm ordering the 70-200 :noes:

How do you "pop the flash 2-3 times" - can the camera do this? or were you test firing the flash?

If camera, can my D300 do this? :dunno:

Nah, I forgot to mention it was my SB-24 off-camera. I walked around and hit the "test" button a few times holding the gel in front of it.

Thanks. I feel like I have to step up my game: 1)Cause I'm at F.I.T now and I'm seeing work that's a lot more advanced and 2) I have no excuse..I have the tools, it's time to progress more and more.

Yeah, unfortunately I only have the 50 and 85 1.8 that are FF. The 18-70 and 12-24 are for DX sensors so I only attach them if I REALLY need a wider shot. I was debating which one to get first: the 17-55 or the 70-200 but I think I'm gonna go with the zoom.

    Really? Are they?

I have no idea how A&P determines what they think is good. It's like completely fucking arbitrary.

1, 2, 4 and 5 are worthless, in every aspect. 3 would be good if the sign weren't there and it were sharp. 6 is terrible, getting low for a shot is fine, but once your that low you lose focus and detail on the face making it worthless as a portrait. 7 is poorly processed and there is ZERO light on the face, again, making it worthless.

I guess everyone wants to sackride the nice camera or something, or maybe they're grading on the curve because it's the first few shots or maybe somehow just a technical demonstration and can't be judged as art. But honestly I don't think these photos would even qualify as "great" on POTN.

Yeah, I know, it sucks but I'm a full time students and I only work weekends for a wedding photographer. Hell, if my D70 didn't break I would prob. still be using that but it happened and it was time to upgrade.

well I like your pictures, I have not the slightest clue how to capture night shots like that... so well done in my book... then again I am still happy if I can make a shot level or obey the 1/3rd rule :hsugh:
