I went to ralph gracie before...but now i'm over at cung le's gym bc they have full cardio classes and full fight training. i'm not trying to be a fighter, but its nice to learn how to kick those bags reallly fucking hard.

oh and this place is cleaner. they actually clean the shit everyday. i swear to god we only swept at ralphs gym in MV when i went.

A trick to holding mount, and what i like to do is cross the legs just before there tailbone, so its like a guard from the top if you get what i mean.

BJ Penn did it against Joe Stevenson in there fight iirc and its a good way to hold mount, if you flare your knees out you can really be heavy on them and neutralize their hips.

Submission wise it isnt fantastic, I only go for Americanas/Kimura and head arm triangles from there.

If you want a good submission mount, get your knees right up and under their armpits, but me being a light fucker usually gets rolled off, so i use a lower mount.

i was going to goto aka but the schedule didn't work for me. its like a breeding ground for fighters and we cross train w/ aka.

i also kicked an elbow and a knee last night; feels like its bruised to the bone.

As a little guy, that sucks hard. It's really tough to overcome a 30 or 40 lb weight difference even if you're pretty techincally sound.

I roll with the guys down at Modern Combatives in Fremont when I can make the trip. Nice group of guys, they do Bjj, nogi, MMA, kickboxing, etc.

Never been down to AKA, but I have been taking a couple classes a week with Dave Camarillo who is the head BJJ instructor there and he is an absolutely amazing teacher, and a nice guy on top of that. Im sure you would enjoy it.
