This Sunday I am doing a IPF sanctioned contest. I'll have my gear (singlet, briefs, long socks, t-shirts etc) but what about food. I have to be there around 9 AM for the weigh in and the first lifts are at 12 I believe. I figure lots of fruit, maybe some protein, a couple gatorades?

    What else should I bring?

I usually take a box of snickers and my pedialyte/gatoraide mix...

also somebody usually goes and picks up some chic-fil-a at some point...

I like to have a sweat suit to stay warm between the 3 lifts so I don't completly cool down and risk tightening up....

make your own gatorade, maybe throw a little salt in.. i'd want PBJ sammiches.. those make me feel good and have lots of energy (protein, fats & carbs).

Bring a condom for when the testing official holds your dick while you piss into a cup.

Interesting, I was told to stay away from anything with fats as it could make me sluggish. At this point though, I have dropped so much weight that the idea of any food makes me comfortable!
Prolly bring turkey sammiches and throw some bcaa's in my gatorade mix.

If I lift enough to break a record and get tested he can bareback hold my cock for all I care.

I always just bring gatorade/pedialyte and a shitload of snickers bars since the meet sites are usually close enough to food.

I try to eat a big breakfast and then chill until after the first lift and then eat a sandwich or something depenending on how long the meet runs but thats just me.

you got anyone to come along and make sure your attempts are entered in right, keep you focused, and do any logistical stuff so you can concentrate on the lifts that day? it helps

There are a couple of guys from my local gym who should be there... they are fairly new to the sport as well but I hope to have these guys help me out.

I got a buddy coming to tape my lifts... if they aren't complete shit I will post them on here.

Yeah I guess it's different if you don't have knee wraps and all that shit to be handled. Talk to everyone you can and ask the judges anything that crosses your mind. Practice your warmups as though they were comp attempts and have someone give you the commands for the lift while you do them. You don't want to have a bench fail because you racked it too soon, etc.

Attended an IPF meet a few months ago, didn't seem like to many people were stressing on food types. I went and ate a huge breakfast (eggs/pancakes) with a friend of mine who was competing, and then we went to togo's a couple hours before the first lift.

Biggest mistake I observed with a lot of the first time lifters was putting their first lift to close to their max. Also on bench I saw a lot of people get red lighted for their ass coming off the bench.

yeah you don't want to have paid all the entry fee shit and hauled your ass off just to bomb out on your openers. Maine told me to pick a weight I could smoke hungover for the opener then make big jumps from there.

I won't be benching this time around. My shoulder is on and off sore and it seems I can't keep it consistant.
As for squat and deadlift I really don't know what to start my lifts off with. I don't want to start too low and never hit a max, but obviously I don't want to miss my lifts. Think I will go about 75% of my expected 1rm for my squat, and about 85% for my deadlift.

rule of thumb I heard was to choose something you can lift for 3 reps as your opener. Don't forget to wait for the commands. That's what a lot of newbs forget about. Good luck man!
